sweet and fresh lips for the summer

Summer is here! Fun under the sun... NOT!!! While many northern people celebrate the arrival of Summer, we desert people don't. Summer means 100 to 115 degrees, day in and day out and dry, dry, dry, dry (did I say dry?) weather. You can imagine what that can do to our skin and especially lips. One day without proper moisturizing can leave skin chalky gray and lips badly cracked and dry. 

On my trip to the Fresh store at the Pallazo Shops in Las Vegas yesterday I decided to give the new Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment a try. I've been in love with Fresh for a while now, it was my niece Rebecca that introduced me to this awesome brand and since then I've been buying here and there, and there is nothing I have not liked, from ingredients like sugar, umbrian clay or soy everything feels and smell amazing! The perfumes are perfect for the desert summer (I wear Citron de Vigne), they are crisp, light and as the brand name, FRESH! 

So, I had been looking for something to keep my lips moisturized during the day (I use L'Occitane Pure Shea Butter at night time) with a little sheer color. I was not disappointed, the lip treatment provides imediate nourishing and feels luscious and silky, the nude color is sheer but with the advantage of a buildable coverage, and very importantly, sun protection, the lip balm has SPF 15. I love it and now have one less thing to be worried about this summer.

I don't think myself cool enough to wear them, or fashion adventurous for that matter and it is questionable if I could afford them, but these are beyond the point. The Kobi Levi shoes are not sensible, they are sensational! You don't have to think about wearing them to appreciate the ingenious of their design. Inventive and unquestionably original they could easily belong to a modern art museum exposition.

Oh, how I love a big ring! These unique double finger rings by Erika Anenberg are so cool and chic!  

Mark asked me today where there is a Tiffany store in Vegas, so there is a  chance that I will cross off one wish from my five wishes list. If I don't, the "be" necklace could make me equally happy!

fifty ways to use a good thing

This week I was very happy to get the limited edition Shea Butter that L'Occitane has just released . Enriched with organic apricot oil (also available: Orange Honey and Vineyard Rose), it feels lighter than the original 100% shea butter melting very easily at contact, the smell is a just a hint of apricot and the tin it comes in is really cute. I have beeen using the Pure Shea Butter from  L'Occitane since I moved to the desert in 2002, it does wonders for cracked lips or any dry skin condition for that matter.

With the purchase I was given a small booklet with 50 ways to use pure shea butter, from make up to hair and massage, you can use it in pretty much everything. My favorite new ones are:
- Use on your dry feet before putting on workout shoes, as the heat from the exercise helps shea butter soak in better and feet become extra soft.
- Brush a small amount on eyebrows to keep them in place and looking groomed all day.
-  Apply to paper cuts so that they are instantly soothed and leave no scar.

We came back from our trip to find three boxes seating on the porch. One of them was from sister-in-law Carolyn, who knowing me very well, sent me some of my favorite things to have: bar soaps!

They are made by  Frontier Angel Soap in Grass Valley, CA and have a very natural and calming scent,  just wonderful! What I most like about them is that they are made with natural oils (coconut, palm, olive, rice bran) and shea butter,  with no preservatives.  Each one has a very distinct smell, even though they were packed together in the same bag. I can't wait to try them all!

I had been eyeing this scarf for a while wondering whether I should buy it or not. I don't think I look good on scarves, it seems that they don't do for me what they do for my friends, but this one from Emmadime is so lovely that I could not give up the thought of getting it.

Well, to my huge disappointment it is now sold out. All the colors! The yellow one was my favorite. And now (off course) I really want the scarf!

I can only hope they will bring it back, or even a remotely similar one. I promise not to fickle next time!
